Omar Puri recently joined the Stride Capital team as an Account Manager, serving our valued Southern Alberta customers. Omar shares insight into his previous work experience, how it led him to Stride, what he’s looking forward to with Stride, and more. Keep reading to get to know Omar.
Tell us about your previous work experience and how it led you to Stride.
I’m a bit of a Jack of all-trades with experience in many facets of business, including Sales, Finance, Oil and Gas, Operations, Manufacturing, Non-Profit, and Management. After various career experiences, I began working in equipment finance in 2018 and soon discovered I had a passion for the industry and its people. I worked for an independent leasing house as well as a credit union in asset-based lending sales before joining Stride Capital. This prior experience, along with the diverse skills I gained in overall business operations allows me to service a wide range of clientele, in a way that best benefits their business in order to help them achieve their financial goals. Stride was a natural fit for this mindset, so when the opportunity came calling, I jumped at the chance to be a part of the team.
What are you looking forward to about your new role as Account Manager for Stride?
I’m looking forward to servicing clients in the most efficient way possible to help them advance their business while simultaneously building a long-term career with Stride. One of the most appealing aspects of Stride Capital is its team, culture, and vision for the direction of its future, a future that I can say without question I am happy to now be a part of.
What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?
I think there are opportunities to grow the current territory while also building long term, foundational relationships with clients, in order to provide a high level of service. I believe that helping to ensure high retention rates and customer satisfaction, while upholding the organization’s outstanding reputation within the equipment finance sector leads to job fulfillment and along with that comes success. Stride Capital is clearly on an upwards trajectory and it’s an exciting time to be joining such a supportive and knowledgeable team.
What sectors do you specialize in and what opportunities do you see on the horizon?
I am familiar with various equipment assets across all industries. These include Construction, Transportation, Oil & Gas, Road, Agriculture, Forestry, Mining, Sanitation, Material Handling, among others.
Given the shortage of available housing in the Alberta market and influx of people coming into the cities, I believe there will be many opportunities in the near future for construction and transportation of materials. However, the beautiful thing about finance is that having the right Account Manager and leasing company behind you gives you more than just capital. It gives you a trusted advisor who believes, at their core, that the relationship with the client and understanding the needs of their business is paramount to the success of their organization. That means that in an up market you get approved fast and grow your asset base and in a down market refinancing, securitizing against other collateral or obtaining a working capital injection can provide businesses with the funds they need to sustain their operations. Facilitating Account Managers to specialize in this kind of approach is what Stride does best.

What is your life like outside of work?
I have a passion for learning, engineering, design and all things mechanical. I can often be found tinkering around in the garage. I have always enjoyed Formula 1, weightlifting, movies, writing, and reading. In between, I spend as much time as I can enjoying the company of family and friends over great food, drinks, and even better laughs.
