We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Aaron Ursulak, one of our senior account managers, to talk about his experience and expertise here at Stride.
Aaron, who joined us in 2018, has seen quite a bit throughout his career. Read on to learn more about Aaron and what he brings to the team.
Tell us about your previous equipment financing & work experience
Before joining Stride in 2018, I had been in the equipment financing industry for over 20 years.
I started my career as an equipment broker at Herd Financial in Kelowna, BC and then I decided to move to Edmonton to make the most of the Alberta Advantage at the time. There I joined Capital Underwriters Corp where I worked on financing all types of equipment from commercial kitchens to construction equipment.
After that, I spent some time working with a direct funder before joining Mercado Capital in 2002, where I focused on equipment financing for the next 10 years. After a successful run with Mercado, I moved on to ECN Capital.
When ECN was purchased by a bank, the same financing team I had worked with for the past 15 years approached me to join them at Stride Capital.
What territory do you cover?
In my role with Stride Capital, my main focus is Northern Alberta. It’s where I’ve spent the past 25 years developing my career.
I understand the customer base here and its unique territory. From the variety of markets within the province to the diversity of the customers that conduct business here, I’m aware of the needs and factors at play.
What sectors do you specialize in and what opportunities do you see on the horizon?
My focus is with companies in the Construction, Transportation, Energy, Agriculture, Forestry, and Manufacturing sectors.
The Alberta economy is undergoing a transformation. Known globally for its traditional oil and gas industry, this province has a lot to offer Canada beyond petrochemicals.
Alberta is a province rich in resources, brilliant talent, breathtaking landscapes, and promising sectors emerging from its traditional industries.
From cleantech and renewable energy to agriculture and forestry, Alberta’s emerging industries offer plenty of opportunity for innovation and growth and of course trucks to move it all.
What made you want to join the Stride Capital team?
Honestly, it was an easy decision to move to Stride. I had been working with mostly the same team (management, ownership & sales) for the 15 years prior and appreciated the high level of integrity that they operated within.
They treat their employees and partners just like they do their customers, with extreme favour, respect and excellence. How could I not want to be part of that environment?
What I love about Stride Capital is how we blend modern finance products with a common-sense lending model, which allows us to be able to service our business customers in amazing ways.
What is your life outside of work like?
Outside of work, my life with my wife revolves around my family and community. We have two daughters who are now married with kids, so we spend as much time as we can with them just hanging out or traveling.
I am really good at chilling with downtime, but I love to go fast too, whether its muscle cars or airplanes. I have helped build a few classic muscle cars, drove them and sold them and I am currently working on my private pilot’s license.
I am a huge believer in restoration and love to see healthy transformations in marriages, community, classic cars and real estate.
