We sat down with Nikolas Bregeda who recently joined the Stride Capital team to ask him about his previous experience and what he’s looking forward to in his new role as Sales Coordinator. Keep reading to get to know Nik better and learn more about his education, experience, and interests.
Tell us about your previous work experience and finance education and how it led you to Stride.
I join Stride out of post-secondary, brand new to the equipment financing and leasing industry. My experience is limited, however, my previous employment opportunities and education have allowed for a quick transition into the environment and role. I worked multiple labourer jobs as a student, doing lawn-care and window-installation services in the summers. Both companies I previously worked for taught me the importance of work ethic, strong collaborative ability, and client relationship management. I know the skills I have developed in these jobs will translate to my role with Stride and ultimately will aid in a successful career. As an Economics graduate from the University of Calgary, I was able to take multiple financial analytics courses, which have helped me to better understand the deals that are reviewed, submitted, and funded here at Stride. When I had reached out about the available position, I heard nothing but great things about the team and the work environment and knew it would be a place that I could learn and expand my knowledge of this industry.
What are you looking forward to about your new role as Sales Coordinator for Stride?
I’m really looking forward to working with all the incredible sales reps, and all our wonderful in-house employees. They have made me feel welcome and I can’t wait to continue learning and providing my best towards the success of Stride Capital.
What opportunities do you see as part of Stride and within this new role?
I am competitive by nature from exposure in elite athletics growing up, so I know that new challenges that arise may open doors for my future within Stride and to potentially pursue higher education or more relative credentials to different roles down the road.
Can you tell us a bit about your experience working in a team environment, managing client relationships, and doing financial analysis?
I have always been keen on working in team environments because of the experience I have from sports. Without all systems functioning, the engine won’t produce to the highest quality it can. Without all team members contributing as best they can, results won’t meet their potential. As far as client relationships, both previous long-employment experiences of mine had me working face-to-face with customers, contractors, etc. Effective communication with clients was essential with my two previous employers, and at Stride, all the small details that go into our deals can alter the way we view them. Communicating with clients, sales reps and the credit team about important details will be vital in my role.
What is your life like outside of work?
I am a huge hockey fan and have played the sport my entire life as a goalie. Growing up, I was fortunate enough to be exposed to many sports, but ultimately stuck with hockey, and continue to play on multiple winter & summer teams. My dog and partner have most of my attention, and I love to spend time with friends in Calgary, where I call home.
